How we price diamond jewellery

Two parts, added together. The gold: net weight at today's 18K rate, plus 25% making charges, plus 3% GST. The diamonds: total carat at ₹75,000 per carat, plus 3% GST. That is the whole calculation, and it is the same one we use at the counter.

Diamond nose pins are priced a little differently: net gold weight (gross minus 0.2 g per diamond carat) at the 18K rate plus a flat ₹3,000 making and 3% GST, the diamonds at ₹75,000 per carat plus 3% GST, then ₹500 for the diamond certificate and ₹88 HUID charge.

Why 18K and not 22K? It is harder, so it holds diamonds securely for daily wear. The full difference, explained.
